JONATHAN PERRY | Estate Planning & Elder Law Attorney

Thank you for taking a minute to learn about Perry Law Firm.

My name is Jonathan Perry but my friends call me “J P”. I was born, raised and still live in Acadiana. I have lived my entire life in Kaplan and still live their with my family. I graduated from Kaplan High School where I played football and ran track for the Pirates.

My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Northeast Louisiana University (currently ULM) in Criminal Justice along with a minor in Sociology. Following the completion of my degree, I recognized my passion to help others and at the age of 25, I enlisted in the police academy and rose to the rank of Sergeant for the Kaplan Police Department. With determination to further my education I returned to the academic scene in pursuit of a Law Degree. During my first year of law school my wife, Christine LeBeouf (from the great metropolis of LeLeux – between Kaplan and Crowley) and I were blessed with twin daughters, Molli and Meredith. During my third year of law school I began my political career at the ripe age of 28, when I was elected as a city councilman in my hometown. Two years after the completion of my Law Degree, Christine and I welcomed to our lives our son, Major (he’s my little buddy).

I have previously served as an Assistant District Attorney for the 15th Judicial District Court. I have spent a lot of time in court and a main goal of our law firm is to keep you and your family out of court, through our Estate Planning. In 2007, I was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives to serve District 47, where I represented Cameron and Vermilion Parish. While in the House of Representatives I served on the House Committee of Ways and Means, the House Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice and the House Committee of Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development.

In October of 2009, Christine and I welcomed home our fourth child, a little girl named Marlee (she is the boss). In 2011 I was blessed to win a special election for Senate District 26, which covers all or a portion of Acadia, Lafayette, St. Landry and Vermilion Parish. In the fall of 2011 I ran for re-election and was unopposed. I was again elected without opposition in the fall of 2015.

I currently served on the following Senate committees: Judiciary C (Vice-Chairman), Senate Commerce, Local & Municipal Affairs, and I am the Chairman for the Select Committee on Veteran Affairs. I also serve as the Vice-Chairman of the Acadiana delegation. I enjoy reading and spending time with my family. I am an avid runner having completely 2 full marathons (26.2 miles) and 5 half marathons (13.1 miles). One of the half marathons I ran with my twin daughters who were 13 years old at the time and I just recently ran a half marathon with my son who was 11 years old at the time.

I am a Born Again Christian and I make every effort to treat my staff and my clients with those principles.
